The word evangelist means, “One who brings good news.” I am here to bring good news about your health. We were on the 700 Club this past week with another evangelist Pat Robertson. Watch our show using the links below to see what bok choy, Swiss chard, and collard greens look like. They will help you recognize the ingredients in the recipe found in our first online newsletter. The ‘good news’ is that you have the power to influence how your genes are expressed. Your choices are conducting the orchestra. Your genes are simply a set of notes, the same perfect notes we were all given. In fact my genes are 99.999 percent identical to yours. It’s how you arrange those notes that determine the song that is your life.
Thousands of years ago before man began farming he relied on the untamed resources nature provided. The earth was covered in vegetation, water, and other animals. We were each others resources. We shared this bounty. Our diets consisted of lean meats from hunting and fishing and vegetable matter from foraging. We walked an average of 9 miles a day, out of doors, under the sun in pursuit of food and water. This went on for millions of years.
The average American now consumes at most two servings of fruits and vegetables a day. And, most animal protein we consume is processed or raised on diets of grain rather than vegetation. We sit behind desks all day, in doors. We have strayed from Nature’s intention. We believe we can manufacture a healthier alternative. We haven’t succeeded for the most part.
Breakfast is a heavily marketed array of grain products with vitamins sprayed on to the flakes in the factory. The protein content of a serving of most cereals is less than one egg. We have lost our ability to enjoy fresh produce because salt and high fructose corn syrup have numbed our taste buds to the subtle symphony of flavors that are in fresh fruits and vegetables.
We need to step outside this virtual lifestyle and reconnect with Nature. Spring is now arriving. The timing is right, now.
Here is a meditation for the day. Go outside to a park or quiet place away from traffic and noise. Turn off your cell phone. Close your eyes. Listen to the Voice of Nature speak. When you have tuned in, open your eyes and quietly observe nature in action. Bugs crawl under your feet; the ground is alive with vegetation and small animals. Watch the birds navigate your air space. They are the symphony that is the bounty. You are part of this bounty. Don’t turn away; it is your health and your salvation. Restore this bounty in your life and it will restore you.
